A Team For Everyone…

Birmingham BBSC
Birmingham Blazers

The BBSC is structured to offer a soccer opportunity for every level of soccer play.

  • BBSC Recreational League – for all skill levels
  • BBSC Blazers - for the Travel/Premier League player

The BBSC recreational league provides the recreational (or beginner) soccer player, in Kindergarten thru 8th grade, a program in which to train and play games. Ed Leighton is the Director of Coaching and Player Development for the BBSC club. There are professional trainers at every club wide training session to teach the players. All players are trained a minimum of 1 time per week.

As the players progress in soccer skills, interest and dedication to the game, the BBSC Blazer’s offers them an opportunity to play at a higher, more competitive level of soccer. The Blazer program begins at the U9 (usually 3rd grade) age group and continues thru high school. The Blazer program for U9 & U10 players is unique in the Birmingham area in that it offers an all-inclusive price for the training, facility rentals, local tournament, and uniform. The Blazer teams are formed through tryouts.

Even as the grass fields are blanketed by another snowfall, the Birmingham Bloomfield Soccer club (BBSC) is in the final stages of spring soccer preparations for 1700 recreational soccer players.

The BBSC is a community based non-profit organization that has provided a soccer program for all levels of soccer players since 1979.

As an organization grows, it is important to insure all aspects of the club develop in harmony. Day-to-day operations are handled by Executive Director, Marcia Kaline, with a Board of Directors providing oversight. Ed Leighton remains the Director of Coaching and Player Development for both the recreational and competitive players. A renewed effort focuses on customer service. Most noticeable changes are the daily office hours, revamped website which provides current information for players, parents and coaches, and indoor recreation clinics.

The BBSC’s philosophy rests in granting all players equal opportunities and benefits within their level of play in the sport of soccer. They provide recreational players with a developmental opportunity by emphasizing participation, as opposed to competition in a family centered environment. Volunteer coaches work with professional trainers to help the Kindergarten through 8th grade players develop their skills and knowledge of the game.

As the BBSC utilizes the small-sided format for soccer play, they are able to facilitate a greater number of games on a smaller area of land. This is becoming increasingly important as green space for practice and games for all sports is at a premium in the Birmingham and Bloomfield area. Small-sided games have fewer players competing on a smaller sized field.

These are fun games that involve the players more because fewer players are sharing the ball. When the young soccer players touch the ball more often, they become more skillful. They also have more fun, and that is the goal!

Code of Conduct Notice to All Parents and Club Members

Your manners and general behavior will be noted at all times when corresponding with the club.

We at the Club are people of the community, too.  In trying to provide the best soccer environment  for your children to play we sometimes are overwhelmed by phone and email messages along with personal drop-ins at the office.

We will always do our best to accommodate your club issues as quickly as we can.  We are a club that wants to create a positive environment for all to play and our belief is to find positive solutions in any situation.  Manners cost nothing.  Please respect that you will be treated the way you treat others.

Parents and Coaches - Please be sure you take your trash with you when you leave the soccer fields. We have received complaints from the field locations that we are not leaving the fields in good condition. As fields are already tight, we don't want to lose fields due to BBSC teams leaving them a mess.
