Coach Biographies
Ian Jones originates from
England. Born in Chester, he grew up in North Wales where he
developed his soccer playing experience. Picked at eleven
years of age by Wrexham Football Club (Professional team), he played
and represented their academy and teams for six years. During
this time he was a member of the Welsh Schoolboy Development squads
and was captain of the North Wales schoolboy team at U14 and U15.
After being released by Wrexham, Ian continued to play for various
semi professional teams and his college who were British University
finalists in 1998, At college, Ian earned a BSC in Sport and
Exercise science and gained his F.A. coaching license. Ian has
been with the BBSC since 2000 and has enjoyed success with numerous
teams including taking the ‘89 Blazer boys to the State Cup Finals
in 2002.

Dave Lakatos holds a USSF “D” license
and has been coaching for nearly 20 years. He played locally
with the Carpathia Kickers, Eisenhower H.S. and the Olympic
Development (ODP) team before receiving an NSCAA All-American award
while attending Grove city College, PA. His playing career
included a brief stop in England as well as playing professionally
with the Detroit wheels in 1994-1995 before they dissolved.

Ed Leighton’s career started as a
young professional in England with Hartlepool United F.C., then in
the English first division after coming through many other pro
clubs, training, trials and years of county/state rep teams. A
serious injury forced his retirement from English football, and Ed
then moved to South Africa, where he coached. Moving to Italy,
Ed coached at an international school in Rome running the soccer
program and creating a working relationship for the two main pro
clubs in Rome, Lazio and Roma. Ed has been in the USA for over
a decade now, coaching club programs, Oakland University and
most recently Coerver coaching. He is now in his 25th year of
coaching and holds an F.A. full coaching badge (UEFA “A”), and
a USSF D license.

Coach Jamie Tyers started his career
as a young professional in England with Peterborough United F.C.
then in the English first division. He moved to the USA and
professionally here before play professionally in Australia.
He coached during his playing days, but has since stopped playing to
dedicated all his time to coaching. He holds a sports degree,
F.A. coaching certificate, Australian senior license (UEFA B), USSF
D license and an F.A. preliminary license. In 2003 Jamie was
appointed the director for Coerver Coaching Michigan, an
international organization regarded by many in pro game as the best.
In 2004 he was also appointed Director of Coaching and player
Development for the Birmingham Bloomfield Soccer Club (BBSC).
